Trevor & Sarah’s Fall Engagement Session at White River State Park | Walker Photography

Some sessions just click — and Trevor and Sarah’s engagement shoot was one of those. From the start, they knew exactly where they wanted their session to be: White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis. After running a 5K through the area, they messaged me saying, “We think this could be the perfect spot.” As soon as I saw it, I agreed completely.

With the fall colors painting the city in gold and rust, we spent the afternoon wandering through tree-lined paths, riverfront trails, and quiet pockets of sunlight. It was the perfect mix of urban charm and natural beauty — and it fit their energy perfectly: relaxed, adventurous, and full of laughter.

A Blend of Posed & Candid Moments

Trevor and Sarah wanted their photos to feel authentic — something between classic portraits and the spontaneous moments that just happen. So we built a session that was part posed, part documentary-style. One minute they were wrapped up together against the skyline, and the next they were caught mid-laugh, completely themselves.

Some of my favorite images came in black and white — honest, emotive frames that strip everything down to what really matters: connection. There’s something timeless about the way those tones highlight the way they look at each other.
